Lucky you zenjeff - Painted Lady. Haven't seen one here for years - they're in a bit of a decline from what I understand.
My resident spider on the front window was clinging on to his web yesterday. Haven't seen him this morning after the wind and rain last night. Hope he's ok. Front is slightly more sheltered from rough weather than the back so perhaps he's found a little nook to hide in
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I think it is a red underwing moth, Catocala nupta.
yes it is Fidget, I haven't seen one of those yet this year

Spotted this fizzy creature on the wheelie bin. Didn't think it quite a home so it's now been relocated.
Actually today I've found no end of caterpillars. Non quite as striking though.
