  • Nottinghamshire.
    Failure is always an option.

  • Had a brimstone butterfly on the corncockle flowers yesterday.
Long time between seeing one in the earlier part of the year and now.
Stayed for some time on the flowers so 2 wildlife moments.

Very excited - just had a quick peek in one of our compost bins, two grass snakes curled up beside the slow worms this time, only seen the smaller one before. Must get the camera set up next time to see if I can be quick enough to get a decent photo.

Young Mr Blackie fancied a paddle this morning. I was lucky to be heading into the kitchen when I saw him through the window

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Just posted a photo on the Forkers thread of a strange turquoise caterpillar I found earlier on of my pots. Should have put it on here of course.
If anybody can identify it please, I would be very interested. Never seen one that colour before!

Thank you so much Fran, I didn't know how to do that.

Isn't it a pretty colour? Couldn't see any eyes on it,  so not sure if it is an elephant hawkmoth caterpillar - apparently there is a blue version. It's quite big, about 1 to 2 inches long.

It is a Poplar Hawkmoth, which sometimes has a bluish colour. It is looking for somewhere to pupate until Spring.

@Lizzie27 Only too pleased to help  :)
You could even have put it on Insects of the Day!
