I found a fat ball down the side of my house the other day @SueAtoo. The next day it was over the other side of the garden tucked under the shed behind a compost bag. They get around ;)

  • Foxes stole my daughter's one - she saw the mother and cubs playing with it in the next door neighbour's garden.

Taken in a local glen. Cormorant we think.
  • I cut an apple in half for the blackbirds earlier but noticed a couple of small birds eating them which I didn't instantly recognise.  They were female blackcaps (which have brown 'caps') and are winter visitors:

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • We have Fieldfares sitting in the  Rowan in the garden over the back from us.  I'm trying to tempt them down with some cut up apples- no luck so far 🙁

Lovely to see. Apparently blackcaps were solely summer migrants to this country but are increasingly staying here full time as the climate warms and food availability improves.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I think our blackcaps here in north London are pretty much year round.

I've been trying to teach a 3yr old about tracking in the snow. Got to start somewhere right?  :#

  • During a recent visit, Mr Squirrit revealed an alteration to his 'physique' - his 'unicorn'-like growth has developed!! [He's also getting bolder & becoming easier with the camera often now less than 20cms away (albeit behind a double-glaced window!)].

Yesterday I had three foxes running through my garden uip and over next doors fence and off into the allotments.

Later the dog fox sat in next doors garden and the vixen in mine.

About an hours later they were "making babies " on my patio.

Ive seen it before and I feel like a bit of a peeping tom so I went and say in the front room until they had finished !!
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.
