Just captured this video showing the "mésange charbonnière/noire" Parus major and "mésange à tête bleue" Cyanistes caeruleus feeding at the peanuts garland roundabout in my garden.
For the past few evenings I have sat by my window with a cup of tea and watched some spectacular sunsets. I have asked Father Christmas for a replacement camera so if I am a good girl and get one I might be able to take some pics. Fingers crossed. Ialso asked for a rotary dryer so if I have one of those there will be no pics. but a nice new perch for the birds!
I have just found a slow worm on my drive. Luckily I had passed over it in the car and not quashed it but it was a narrow escape. I moved it to the shelter of the hedge and it disappeared within a couple of minutes. I had hoped that they would all be hibernating by now but the mild winter so far must be affecting them.
We rescued a baby slow worm last week, I also thought they would be hibernating by now. Lying on a footpath, looked as if it had shed some tail escaping from a predator. Pretended to be dead until I moved it to a safe place, when it scarpered pretty quickly.
This rather cute roebuck wandered through the garden this morning, stopping to prune one of the camellias. His antlers were thickly covered in ‘velvet’, hope he doesn’t decide to rub it off on any precious plants. Really messed up my bottlebrush plant last year!
Looked out yesterday morning to see the fat ball feeder had been stolen (squirrels?), went out and bought another one and wired the top to the hanging hook - this morning all I have is the top !!! Don't you love wildlife?
