I love the wee mice that live in the garden. They access the feeders via the ivy on the fence. Very partial to a sunflower heart or ten   :)

Meanwhile - Mr Blackbird was very busy today round by the shed....  :D

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

We had a great moment on the weekend when we were out walking in the woods and a fox strolled out of the undergrowth onto the path not far ahead and froze when it saw us. My wife had her phone in her hand and took a photo. Sadly the photo is of me and my boy pointing to the fox behind her and shouting as quietly as we could for her to turn around. Wildlife pantomime moment :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

  • Just been out and saw an unusually marked squirrel. It appeared to be a youngster , as it was quite thin and small bodied, but it had an extra long tail the edge of which was all white feathered. Striking.
  • This heron  was sitting on a neighbour's chimney. I think they have a pond, so he was probably eyeing up his supper.

I wondered if it was unwell. It was sluggish and looked bloated.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • I've been treated to a flock of Starlings recently (not often seen around here anymore) and wondered why they had appeared and were visiting in a small grove of young Ash trees, just on the other side of my boundary.  I discovered that my ancient grape vine has escaped through the fence and had climbed a couple of the 30ft trees, with several dozen bunches of grapes hanging high in the sky, right at the top!  I'm glad the Starlings have discovered them as I find most wildlife ignores grapes and many end up shrivelling on the vine.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
