    Perfectly timed photo :|
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Gosh. Eating a bit too much grass, perhaps.

I was very encouraged by Springwatch mentioning that this year was the first time anyone had ever filmed badgers giving birth underground or captured the soundtrack, and the first time a swallowtail had ever been filmed emerging as an adult. In fact, anyone could have initiated that footage, and there is a world of wildlife firsts out there, some that you might imagine have happened before. It's a spur to citizen science - pushing the frontiers and the research that goes alongside.

    A kingfisher? Wakes you up?
  • With the bedroom window open all you hear is "plop"..... "plop"..... "plop", then when he catches one he bashes them on the top of the wall and leaves the mess for me to clear.

This is @VictorMeldrew 's soundtrack of a nightjar that he recorded recently. So unusual.

No photos sorry but pigmy shrew darting in and out of the plants near our back door and then half way up the house wall a slug about 2 inches long. Why are they climbing up? We really do not have any vegetation for them at the top.
