Currently a bit giddy with excitement. I was just peering down a hole that has appeared in one of the grassy paths, preusming it was a rat, when the occupant popped his head out and we scared the life out of each other. I quickly put the trailcam there and five minutes later....
Oh I’ve no idea @Fire, but it’s a Polecat. There was only 1 recorded in 2009 here in Suffolk, but they have been making a bit of a comeback, and there were 186 records last year, I’m hoping she had a litter down in that hole!
@Jellyfire - rightfully giddy! Is that the forum's first own recorded mustelid? ... pine marten? (Stoat/weasel?)
I'm sure I've posted otters before, but not from my garden. I've definitely seen people post badgers from their gardens here though. And I must have posted that ferret that turned up at 4am when my wife was in labour and earned me the biggest scowl known to man when I brought it inside to show her Fingers crossed for baby polecats though
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
