Sorry about the awful pictures but has anyone any idea what this is. It's almost two inches long and was totally unfazed by me lifting the log it was on and slinging it into the wheelbarrow!
Seen them before Pp, but can't remember what they are....
Lovely tortie Gillian. Real lack of butterflies here, but that's not entirely unusual. August is when we get most of ours. The buddleias are flowering so hopefully there'll be plenty
Almost stood on this little chap yesterday. Well, they will hide in the heather...
Move on...nothing to see here...
Loads of grouse, scaring the bejaysus out of me when they suddenly erupt as you go by. The youngsters are always cute
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Try again with the photos. I guess this forum doesn't like photobucket.
Quite a few young starlings this morning
Hi PP,
Think your visitor might be a wood wasp .... see below.

Bee X
A single bee creates just one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime
I was a latecomer to borage but am now a devotee. The insects just love it....especially the ladybirds and bees. These photos are my homage to borage.
A bee yesterday on my Dahlia. Must try to entice butterflies into my yard next year, not seen a single one
Some great photographs here, you are lucky to have such a variety of wildlife in your gardens.
