    Amazing photo.
The peregrines have fledged from the cliffs up on the hill and were having a noisy first flight high over the garden this afternoon. Having the fastest animal in the world learning to fly over your house is something that is sadly overlooked by most people.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Ooh no not a diy job @Treeface . Yes it is not cheap,  but it is good. Had a patio done two years ago, so glad,  it cuts down on weeding. I would guess now a 14' square area would cost about £1000

You have kangeroos in your garden?

I saw a kestral on the fence last night (sorry didn't manage a photo) that was being followed closely by 2 magpies. Just as I was wondering if I needed to go chase them away from the kestral, she swopped into a tree and down into next doors garden.
Then I realised the magpies were waiting to steal the kill. They chased her off her dinner 😑

I am trying to establish a species list in the vain hope that the planning committee will look kindly on the wildlife. The developer for next door has commissioned an ecological survey. They sat at a desk and consulted the local wildlife trust. No records for that area, so they are assuming no wildlife.  Several acres of land with minimal interference from man for the last 60 years.  Trees pushed over, remaining cleared ground mulched. However in the last year there has been a bounceback. Today a lady bought round a moth trap we have set up. While she was there I thought she was admiring a dahlia. No, she had spotted a potter wasp with a caterpillar.  Another new sighting for us. Tonight I hope for lots of moths. The trailcam we set up showed the roe deer doe that tiptoes around the garden at night. It showed a lot of moths, so fingers crossed.
