Heard a bit of a commotion this morning, opened the curtains and just climbing out of the pond, these 3. There was a lot of violence involved. Sorry about the quality, but they were 50 yards away and through glass.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
A bit of a frustrating photo. I spent ages watching these little finches and trying to get a photo of them framed in the gorse, just because the yellow flowers complemented their wing colour. I couldn't manage to get a clean photo though, there was always something in the way or the bird would move at the last moment.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
The first bird has found my new supposedly-rat-proof bird feeder. A goldfinch. It's taken about two weeks to get anyone interested. A suspicious lot, our local birds. All the cats don't help. Lovely to see someone enjoying themselves. Hopefully this will encourage others to join in and I won't have to worry about birds throwing food around.
Well we have gone from birds in the garden, to hedgehogs taking up residence, to squirrels nesting next-door. Now we have ducks in the front garden! ( excuse the weeds😊)
Well this was confusing. I set my new trail camera up at my parent's place a few weeks ago and went back to check it today. There's often foxes passing through or maybe the odd badger or rabbit but this was just supposed to be a trial run for the new camera. I hadn't tested it before setting it up so I had no idea what to expect but the first video off the card showed this:
No one has ever seen a deer there before, although they are about in the area. It showed up again a couple of weeks later. Nice roe buck with good antlers. I thought the videos were some kind of demo that the camera had added to the card until I checked the rest to see the background was the same.
Meanwhile, my old camera has been set up down by the local river and among other things it caught this owl:
and this otter (cropped and edited photo)
The owl was from last night so I'm glad I didn't go and collect the camera in the week as planned. That weed in front of the owl has grown up since I set the camera up though and kept setting off the trigger for the last week or so and I ended up with about 500 photos to go through and all the night stuff is over exposed because it reflects the light. I've got some nice fox videos too but they don't make good stills sadly.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
We caught an owl on the trailcam. It went so fast even on slo mo it was difficult to see, same with bats. Something else triggers it and the bat or owl were just sheer luck. It might explain why sometimes the camera is triggered but then nothing there, it has already gone through. We just had a pair of thrushes on the lawn. First I've seen in ages.

I know this is totally cheating, but I'm on holiday in America and was excited to see my first hummingbird!
