Thanks Fairy. I have all the above plants plus camellia and  azaleas.  The pots of tulips get protection against the squirrels and I have protection at base of clematis against over vigorous hoeing!! So it looks as though it's the perennials next..........

Had a quick peep in the compost bins to see how the slow worms were getting on and found these three lounging about instead of eating slugs like they are supposed to. You just can't get the staff these days!

    Gorgeous steephill. image

You've made it too cosy for them though - you'll need to kick their butts  and get them to work on the slugs...image

I posted this elsewhere already, but I suppose I should have put it here. My little visitor this morning image

Swet little visitor Fairygirl, we are being besieged by various baby tits at the moment. They seem impossibly small and fragile but have figured out how to use the bird feeders.

We also get greater spotted woodpeckers (you may have seen the video I posted) and I realised today that we also get the lesser spotted ones too. I had thought that they were just juvenile GSWs so it is true, every day is a school day!

Lovely to have woodies steephill. I've only ever had the odd one visiting - there's plenty of suitable places round here for them so I expect they don't need to visit gardens. I hear them quite often though.

I posted this on the camera thread as it was from my walk on Saturday as opposed to the garden, but some people may not be familiar with them.

There's a lot of them here - all the way along the fence

Also disturbed his slightly older brother and a toad hiding under old compost bag. Both were bursting full of slugs, though 2 fat ones were curled up next to them.

Tortoiseshell on hebe. Not had many butterflies so far but there is a hedgehog visiting.

After fearing the worst (seeing two squashed hedgehogs on the road) I'm pleased to report that have seen both little and large visiting the garden individually. Whether they're the same little and large from earlier this year I don't know but I'm determined to start demanding the hedgehog house his lordship promised me two years ago now!!
