What an awesome creature, ferocious and incredibly fast moving, I have seen loads at Lindholme Airfield, but never managed to photograph one, so very envious to say the least GD.
I had never seen one before - I didn't even know that they existed. It just popped out whilst we were sitting on a bench on the cliffs - it caught my eye because of the colour. Apparently they like making holes (traps) for ants to fall into and devour. We had to chase after it, as it flew off, landing every few metres along the pathway.
My photos are no where near as amazing as everyone else's, but this is my first year gardening, and to see my first honey bee going to my flowers was exciting haha!

Just seen a few butterflies - orange-tip, brimstone and a small tortoiseshell. Fetched camera, all gone of course!
Fox having a rummage round the garden. Hopefully we will see new cubs in a month or so.
Oops, spotted us watching. Looks a bit grumpy to me.
Some recent activity from the garden.
Dunnock preening after a bath.
This pair looked odd, like they had just stopped for a chat.
Wandering past the rhodos.
Looking very scruffy as the winter coat wears off.
Always looking for food
Admiring the fritillaries?
Lovely photos steephill
I love the 'stand off' between the pigeon and blackbird!
...'you go first'...'no, you go first'...
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Steephill you are fortunate to have such wildlife around you.
Love the chubby dunnock on the stone with the moss.
FowerNewbie, it's a joy to see bees on our flowers.
It's the simple things, right? Like i put a tiny pond in the garden and i stood watching a pair of blackbirds have a bath on the rocky shore i made
