No fish and chips too hot. salad sandwiches in the garden surrounded by Grandchildren playing, the murmur of conversation and watching Dave doing the gardening as I advised him. The lady next door brought fresh strawberry tarts she had made that morning, delicious and guess who got the last one. Today another daughters garden to enjoy the sun and grandchildren, Sandra is being nursed after damaging a ham string in the school sports parents race, silly girl, leave it too the children I say. Up and away shortly, enjoy the day what ever you may be doing even if it is H/W?
Hi Lantana, I haven't seen your posts for a while. Yes, I'm thinking about having a bit of a practice with the digital art, but still hesitant to try things I'm not confident with. I really think I would have been better with a real life class where you can ask questions rather than watching a DVD. However, there was wasn't that choice, so I'll have to work through it.
Boy it's hot out there. Struggled to find a few things to buy at Ashwoods Echinacea Butterfly Kisses, Agapanthus 'Royal Blue', a nice purply pink Roscoea and Rudbeckia 'Summerina Orange' found their way home with me. For a change I know exactly where I want to put them so that might be a job for later this afternoon. Have to go and visit mum first.
Keep looking at where the gap will be when the conifers come down and hoping I'm doing the right thing. I popped and told the neighbours behind me that they were coming down on Tuesday, I was worried they might be going on holiday now the children are breaking up from school, and didn't want their cars left in the firing line. They were concerned they would be able to look straight into my garden and offered to go halves on the cost of cutting them back each year. When I showed her how wide they had become on my side of the fence she was very understanding and said she thought it would make my garden seem much larger and lighter.
Frank, those strawberry tarts sound lovely, have a nice day with the grandchildren.
BL thanks for the reminder re Tatton Park, will try and find it on catch up TV.
Another hot and sunny day here, no rain since Saturday!
It's my mum's 60th birthday today (my brother's 30th tomorrow!) so I've visited her this morning and we are all having dinner together later. Other than that, have been put in charge of looking after the birthday cake until dinner(purchased rather than homemade this time as my Dad was in charge!), and I'm sat in the garden hoping my work phone doesn't ring!
Hope your mum and brother enjoy their birthdays and that you can manage to resist the cake until the appointed time. Can you imagine getting Verdun to look after birthday cake.
Good afternoon everybody , in garden coffee break time , after our own air show
Ealier we had the Lancaster Bomber , Spitfire , Hurricane and 2 Typhoons circling around , must be practising for a show some where , the Battle of Britain Flight is based at Conninsby Lincolnshire not that far away
Hi everyone, very muggy today. Think we had our summer this week and four of the days I was on shift at work grr
been busy in the garden as never ending cutting back, no pics as all flowered and rained every day in June! I'm already making plans for next year as fed up now with this summer ?
Hope everyone well x
i have few questions I need help with but will create new threads. Right now I have stopped work as neighbours bees are on the run!
Yvie why don't you post pic of the trees so we can all see and help you decide x
With you on the fish and chips thing Lantana. Always seems like a good idea, but the reality isn't quite the same. I don't like chips from chip shops, and I only have the special fish now. Perhaps they just aren't as good, or perhaps my tastes have changed! I never liked strawberries either - but I like them more now. Even when I grew them when my girls were small, I didn't really eat them. They do taste better when home grown, as long as they get some warmth to ripen them.
Finished now and a week off to get on with 'stuff'. If only the weather would improve...
There's a phrase you don't often hear BM - "I have stopped work as neighbours' bees are onthe run..."
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thank you Yvie. Cake still in one piece, for the time being!

Here's hoping you get out on the hills Fairy as well as getting "stuff" done. If the weather is good, stuff the "stuff".
