Done lots of watering, done ironing, typed up minutes from meeting. Going to stay with son tomorrow. He has Internet, well, he did last time I stayed. Taking laptop. Smallest granddaughter's 2nd birthday. They live 5 hours drive away. OH is staying at home to look after animals and garden. Back Saturday.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

We've had torrential rain for hours tonight. Thunder,  lightning and hailstones.  It's easing off now but still raining.

Are we ever going to get a summer!!!

Well, Star gaze lily, we feel as though we're getting our share of winter this year. We woke to snow today, but by the time I wandered out at 9.30,  it had melted except for the sheltered areas on the south side of the house and trees etc. I hope you all get about a month of dry warm weather as a last burst - you never know, it might happen.image

i haven't read back properly this morning - trying to get a couple of loads of washing on the line. That wind from the southern snow fields is vicious and my fingers are bright red.  HRH still has her knitted jumper on and is shivering when she is under the clothes line - standing guard in case a monster grabs me.image

time for a warming cuppa of strong tea, I think, before he next load gets pegged on the line.

Ok, I've now read the last three pages, so am up to date. Fairygirl, you were right about getting hot comfort in bed, but luckily I was able to control it with a simple click of the control. (Thank goodness for electric blankets).image

Forgot to say that my first MIL introduced me to eating ox heart. Her recipe called for cleaning out the stringy bits, and then stuffing the heart with prunes (seeds removed of course), then rubbing salt and pepper around the outside and braising it in a little oil to seal it, then covering and slow cooking for hours.   It was delicious as cold meat. I only stopped making this recipe when the butchers started cutting the heart open which made stuffing it too difficult. They informed me that they were compelled by new rules, to open the heart for health reasons. image Typical interference by health inspectors!

Oh yes, and Dove, I'm jealous of that lovely wool, alpaca etc blend you were able to buy. It looks lovely and sounds as though it will be very soft and warm.

ok, I'll go now, but couldn't remember everything in one go!image

Morning all. Went to bed with a migraine last night but unfortunately after I had tried to cure it with sugar, caffeine and paracetamol so sleep wasn't forth coming!

Still today will involve more phoning schools, trying to help rebuild a hand pump (I could do it so easily myself but that's not fair on the lad who has been painting it) and more phoning schools.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

    Good morning all image

Overcast here at the moment but the sun is making a brave effort - the rain is expected later this afternoon ... apparently.

Pat, I've got the brighter of the two green yarns.

The plan for today involves a bit of gardening, then tennis. After lunch it will depend on the weather as to whether I finish sewing up the last sweater and start the knew one, or do more gardening.

Supper will be pan fried lambs liver with red onion marmalade, new potatoes and spring cabbage.

Pat, we enjoy eating offal and love stuffed ox heart - my butcher explained the reason for the heart to be cut open and examined and it did seem sensible - I still stuff the heart with sage and onion and sew it up. Ma used to call it Mock Goose.
