They are going to love these little houses @Fire, they have a similar thing near here in a patch of woodland, and a few of my little houses and pebble creatures have gone there. Yes the roof looks very lift offable!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Yes, it was fun to make, but a mistake in retrospect, for daily handling by children over years. Ho hum. It's all an experiment. I am thinking of setting up a Christmas window box by my gate with stone houses and fairy lights. I will wire the stones in with Sugru. Kids might be a little likely to rip the houses apart.
@Valley Gardener Thank you. Just Sugru for all of it - the roof, the windows and joining on the porch. It's fabulously versatile stuff and there are off-brand identical products which are a bit cheaper. As it's silicone (not plastic or rubber) it's totally waterproof and frost proof. It takes paint and varnish beautifully and stays moldable for a long time. 24 hrs to cure. For other projects it's useful as it can take very high and very low heat so useful for fixing engines or freezers, good in the garden or for computers - all sorts.
I have taken a break from Netflix & Knit to Netflix and embroider felt Christmas decorations. I made leaf ornaments for the tree to represent my two boys, Rowan and Linden (what you British call the Lime, Tilia).
I have also started a fox family with each person represented. This is my husband's, with waves and pines to show his love of water and forests.
