    Hello clever crafters

I wonder if you can help me.
I want to make a bunting for the pergola from an old duvet cover. I have already cut 10 squares of 10 inches each. Would it be prettier if I alternated these with smaller triangles?  And if yes would 8 inch be OK, or do you think smaller?

Love bunting @coccinella Triangles would look lovely and I think 8 inch would be fine. Don't think you should go smaller. Happy sewing, look forward to seeing your finished bunting!

What a creative way to use an old duvet @coccinella please share the final result. I’m planning  major clear out of bedding as we changed the duvets and of course some of our older covers from the UK don’t fit. Perhaps this is an idea for using some of the prettier bits.

Has anyone ever made a “memory bear” from old clothes? I kept a few bits from my mum and dad but don’t know where to start. So many on Pinterest but as usual I’m scared to start.

I haven't made one @Jacquimcmahon but have seen some either made from baby grows or mens shirts. Have also seen cushion covers from jumpers. They look lovely.

I made a cushion cover from a beautiful shirt I had when living in South East Asia.
  • My friend whose hubby passed on,made a lovely cushion cover out of his ties. I wish I'd thought of doing something memorable when my parents passed.

Those memory makes, like cushions or blankets, are a lovely idea. Not seen a bear though - very sweet. My sis has a blanket made of her daughter’s old baby/toddler clothes. I did think of doing something similar with my late Mum’s clothes/scarfs but actually I wear quite a few of her things, and that’s a good feeling to me.

I have saved OH's silk ties from when he had to wear them at the office.   I did see a workshop advertised at a patchwork exhibition a few years ago but it was cancelled so his lovely ties are still sitting in a bag waiting for inspiration.  I did get rid of the boring striped ones and novelty Xmas ties.
