My daughter, born and brought up in Belgium so bilingual and with a BBC English accent makes me laugh when she tries to say "Put t'wood in th'ole" and "Tha's in t'road" both expressions I dredge up from my youf in Lancashire.  I also use Dinna fash, canny lass and bairn which come from my Geordie/Scots rellies up Seaham way.   She hasn't picked up on those.

No gardening today.  last night we had torrential rain with thunder and lightening and today has been cold, grey and mostly wet.    Didn't matter anyway as I had patchwork class today but getting there was interesting on wet roads with heavy traffic and heavy spray - trains and buses on strike now.  I've let myself in for some reverse appliqué but only because I can do it by machine.  Life is too short for the other kind.  For September, they've decided to have a patchwork apron competition.   Might do a cooky one for Possum and a gardening one for me.....

Looks like tomorrow will be cold and dark but dry and Saturday will be colder and very wet.   I suppose I can get indoor stuff done but I do wish the sun would come and warm us up and let us play and work outside.

I hope it's better your way.

Been out all afternoon and spent just over 1.5 times the average annual spend image on some plants for a tiny border (3m x 1m) under the front window.

So back to languages - East Anglia - did anybody else get called a "jiffle-bum" in school? or is that saved for Norfolk dumplings?

Is anybody else hoping to see a lot of Bushy Barnabees this summer to hoover up the aphids?

Evening all - just having a quick skim of your 'Parliamo Glasgow' chat  image

With apologies to the wonderful Stanley Baxter, shoogly is often used for football managers who have been less than successful with their current team. The fans may be overheard saying " his jaiket's oan a shoogly peg"....

A Glaswegian chap who's so hungry he could eat almost anything, might say " Ahm that starvin'- ah could eat the poultice oaf a scabby wean's heid'.....

My mum used to say 'dinna fash yersel', which I think her mum used.

Dreich is one word we haven't needed recently - almost unheard of! I've had to water a lot of stuff in the  last week.

Some flowers have appeared on the Libertia I bought two years back. I mentioned it on a thread not long ago and saying it hadn't yet flowered....it must have heard me image

This is just to say Goodbye Forkers on behalf of my wife pansyface. She was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer last month. On top of this GW has just banned her from the forum for making "disruptive comments". So it's goodbye and thank you to all the lovely people whi supported her over the last few eeeks when she was unable to read the new style forum.

Oh Mr. Muscle how awful for you both.

Words fail me Mr M. I've just looked on the thread. I can think of several people who've behaved badly, been rude and offensive, yet have been given chances to remain on the forum, while Pansy has only asked what's being done to alleviate the issues with text and colour ....image

It's ironic that there's a message this morning stating that  'current priorities for the forum are visibility issues'......image

Pansyface has been a highly valued and respected contributor here for a very long time - I've personally learnt a lot from her. I was so sorry to hear your news - please pass on my love and best wishes to her. Talk about being kicked when you're down. image

I'm having to rethink about the direction the forum's taking.....

I'm pretty disgusted that pansyface has been blocked.image

If she can still read this, I send all my best wishes and hopes for the future.
