Good morning, you are all early birds this morning!
sorry for those who had a disturbed night with thunder etc, silent here, it's lovely here
Pat your property is about the only place I can think a drone would be useful, we just have worries about bad people using them for checking out where to steal farm equipment from! We on e had ine stuck in a tree and the owner had the ....to ask us to go up and get it!! Hope you enjoyed your birthday.
everyone sounds really busy, sorry memory can't do instant recall, but hope Lesley's lad gets on OK with surgery, Clari gets her appointment, DD has another better day, Dove s app with solicitor goes well Hosta remembers about his knee, still early days. Grey cells stopped working now
Fairy the helicopters will start this afternoon for the Ivory Tower along the road, he is not coming until tomorrow. We are directly under the flight path from Ed to Prestwick, I could put some flags on the roof?
best be off. party start this afternoon, getting very excited. We have all the girls today, boys arrive tomorrow in time for Italian night, the wee poppets Ist Birthday tea on Sat, BBQ Sat night, photo shoot Sunday a.m. Then boys go off and girls all stay for another 4 days!!
sorry to go in about it sooooo exciting tho for us all to be together
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Very uncomfortable night - warm and very humid and then the thunder and lightning started. Has been very heavy rain for about the last 5 hours and doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon.
My poor roses look quite pathetic. Fortunately most of the foxglves are under various trees so have a bit if protection from the worst of the deluge but some some lovely big clumps of geranium and anthemis, which usually look wonderful at this time of year, have completely collapsed & are splayed wide open - despite some decent corsetry underneath. They usually withstand most of the weather thrown at them but the sheer volume & intensity of rain this year has proved too much.
On a positive note - the hostas, ferns, persicaria and new plantings are looking good - and I haven't had to water the borders once so far this year. Even the veggie beds have not needed watering for the last few weeks. Saves hours & pennies. Would be quite happy to live in a wet part of the country but I would choose different plants...
Pat - my OH would like a drone - boys and their toys...
Fairy - we missed the Colin Prior programme last night - think it was probably just BBC2 Scotland so it's not on iPlayer. When I told OH he was sure we'd seen it but would have liked to see it again. Thanks for thinking of us
Off to vote in a moment - feels very important this time.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Fidget, he only has a .22 rifle. No shotguns. Aust has strict gun licence laws. We don't have neighbours close enough to spy on, so it'll be used for wildlife viewing or other kinds of photographing. Mind you, if the weather was warm enough, maybe we could catch some bikini shots on the river, but I think the fear of snakes restricts that sort of habit.
I wonder if a wedge tailed eagle would attack it. Could be interesting times ahead.
i am SO SICK of politics and other rubbish on our TVs with our election hovering closer. Wish it was all over and done with.
Well all we seem to have had is football, more football, news of hooligans fighting over football, tennis, and the referendum. Today is voting day. Rain is forecast but is humid here at the moment. I think it might be a bad year for blight on potatoes, given the conditions.
I have a few stray potatoes coming up in the lines of gladioli. I think they are Sarpo varieties which are blight resistant, so time will tell.
I have raspberries ready for picking. Just have to beat the blackbirds to them.
Pat I remember seeing something about the Dutch Police training eagles to bring down drones in mid-air but I don't suppose that your eagles would do it just for fun. Looks pretty cold there so wrap up warm.
LilyP it sounds as though you are going to have a wonderful time with the family.
OH drew the short straw to stay with son so I dropped them off, put petrol in the car and went to vote. He's just 'phoned to say that there has been a mix up. The anaesthetist has retired and they cancelled all his appointments but forgot to send the letters out. We had managed to get him psyched up to go with the flow over the past few days too. He's now having a session with the hygienist instead.
We feel the same, wishing the rubbish was all over and done with, Pat. Thank goodness today's the day for us.
Fairy, and anyone else who hasn't made up their mind, an OUT vote is irreversible - we'll never get back in if we change our minds. A REMAIN vote can be overturned at a later date.
It's sunny and windless today. Time to pick more strawberries I think...
Enjoy yourselves folks!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Awful storms last night with torrential rain........and its still raining! Very windy too. My poor roses are looking very soryy for themselves. And I have a terrible headache.
Sorry haven't read back, hope everyone is ok and poorly peeps are feeling better.
I suspect that always happened with my mum and dad too.
I suspect it will be so close, that even if there is a 1per cent majority, an excuse will be found .. Not enough people voted, not 50% of population eligible to vote or something else

I am assuming that you have shotguns like most farmers, Pat.
Shooting stray drones down would make a change to clay pigeon shooting.
