It's ok LP. I'm not terribly sure what grass is meant to look like. Your's looks fine to me! Mine is mostly dandelions and buttercups. That's a fine edge you have there. What keeps the gravel back though. Have you edger of some sort?
Yes Fairy, it's a terribly old fashioned way of keep edges.
We edge the grass every spring, pull away the gravel then paint, well when I say we.......................
My dad passed away 15 years ago, he and mum wanted their ashes scattered together so 11 years later (he thought she would last 6 months without him) we took them up Ballageich hill and did the deed, we didn't know about the windfarm!
in from the garden due to wind and horrid drizzle, kettle on.

I'm in now, lots done out there still lots to do but we're getting there. When I was up at the GC I picked up three Nicotiana Sylvestris and I've popped them in the new Sunny Bed, they'll give it some height
As well as doing lots of gardening, there was also lots of sitting and looking and smelling the roses - OH has discovered that despite him 'not liking scented flowers 'cos they smell of talcum powder and air freshener' he likes the smell of our David Austin Rose 'Mayflower' - he says it smells of Turkish Delight maybe that's because it's made with rose-water?
We also spent quite a while laying on our tums and watching the frogs and snails in the pond - the snails are doing a brilliant job of keeping the pondwater clear - no sign of any blanket-weed - well, not yet anyway, and there was plenty by this time last year.
Shoulder of lamb has been roasted and is resting, local new potatoes are cooking and we'll also be having roasted new carrots (roasted around the lamb) and buttered spring cabbage with mint sauce from the garden and gravy.

Evening all!
I'm back from my conference in London, with the first hangover I've had in about ten years. I did have a great time though.
The peonies bloomed while I was away, which was nice to come back to.
Evening all.
Rained all day but I was at the coal face so not really bothered by it.
