Nanny, I know there are now bans in place on beaches in Devon. I found this article that says you should contact your local County Council to check which beaches it affects:

    Such a shame :(

@scroggin I thought your recent photos were lovely. I miss the panoramas of the south east countryside. I grew up in Dorking but had an uncle and cousins in Snodland, probably not far from you, and my OH moved here from just outside Sittingbourne three years ago. Devon's lovely in its own way, but I miss the beech woods of the Surrey Hills.

Where I live dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 10am to 6pm from 1st May till 30th September. If you google for your area you should get an answer. With the weather we are having at the moment I don't think it would matter! Unlikely to interfere with sunbathers.

As far as I am aware @Nanny Beach there is no definitive UK law governing this it is purely down to the local authority. As @Thankthecat said in North Devon where we took Dudley (our rescue) last autumn there are some beaches where dogs are welcome all year, some with date restrictions and some where they are banned full stop. So it's a question of checking with the local authority. There are some useful websites we found and normally there is additional signage when you get to the beach. Bottom line is that it is regional / beach-specific not a one-size-fits-all country-wide law.

Yes, the info I obtained was on the Eastbourne Council website, and there are signs on the beaches, I couldnt find it on the website today so I rang the council, they confirmed exactly what I already said, but unfortunately, unless I can print this out, this particular friend will not believe me.  I asked her where she heard this, no reply from her!

Love seeing all the pets... Floss is definitely very happy in front of the camera! Here is Tuxi, our flatcoat, admiring one of my pots!
