Velvet's fine really. She's the only one who chooses to come in the kitchen with them and she has been through the puppy bit before with our old dog, Toffee. It was after she died in August that we got the new ones. It was meant to be one, medium size dog, but the Dog's home only had these two, who were really good friends, and we couldn't choose one over the other as they were both lovely, but so different. We would always have been wondering what had happened to the other one!
It didn't help, that while we were there, this hard faced woman came in to return a dog she had adopted, saying it was aggressive. The dog instantly recognised the girls who had looked after her and greeted them happily, and they said there had never been any problem with her being aggressive. Daughter and I both independently concluded that she hard been provoked or mistreated by Hardface and we wouldn't have liked to think that someone like that had taken one of these puppies.
Our house is long and narrow with stairs at both ends and the cats can get from one end to the other without going through the 2 rooms the puppies are allowed in, so they have plenty of safe spaces and can go in and out freely. Ambrose and Suki often sit on the stairs, that are barricaded with an old suitcase, and watch the pups and make faces at them - it makes them very cross
Just joined tonight and saw this thread. We live in Central Texas, retired teachers, and share our home with a 12# rat terrier named Button. She's 13 and is the funniest, goofiest, most playful, affectionate dog I've ever had. Raised 6 mini-dachshunds over the years and none could shine a light to this little dog. She is so smart, she knows all her toys by name. When sent on "a mission" to retrieve one we name, she has never EVER brought us the wrong toy. Smart little dogs, terriers. She's slowing down now at age 13 and is showing signs of arthritis we plan to discuss with the vet our next visit. We notice lately she is not as bouncy as she once was, nor not does she jump up on furniture as much as she once did. She sticks to her floor beds mostly. But she can still get a pretty good zoomie on running circuits through the house when she's fired up.
Welcome Peggy In Texas. I live in GB, west Midlands.Have you started this thread from the beginning? You will see a lot of lovely pets. Yours is lovely. There's a lot that can be done with arthritis these days.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and thanks for the compliment I'll be sure to pass on to Button. And aren't your retriever's pretty?!!! I've always loved Goldens. Great dogs. I've just never been into pet grooming, so I have always stuck with short-haired dogs you can brush in 4-5 strokes. Yes, I am indeed planning on browsing through prior posts in this thread today. I'm a true dog lover.
I just finished going through the entire thread. Logan, I'm so sorry you lost your dear Bracken. He will be sorely missed, I can tell. We get so darn attached to these furry friends and companions. I'm sure Bracken will find lots of fur babies to play with until you can be with him once again.

Logan, think you might have a long wait......
Buttercupdays, I could just give Ambrose a big cuddle Suki is sweet and poor Velvet needs rescuing and getting some peace and quiet.

Dogs are very clever. I trained all of ours, basic and advanced. I trained them to put a toy in a box, apart from barley he wouldn't go near a box.
From the top right, bramble, Logan, moss, bottom left, Willow and Bracken.
Barley and Berry
That's such a pretty little terrier, Peggy.
Barley and Berry look like identical twins to me! But I expect Logan knows exactly which is which. Lovely photos.
BL,Your right, I put the wrong photo up.
This is Berry

Sorry to hear of your loss Logan, what a beautiful boy Bracken was. I honestly believe we will meet our lost ones again one day.
