@scroggin your Floss so reminds me of my Fly. We lost her this time last year, she was 14 and is still much missed. She was never a moment's trouble and seemed like a mind reader when it came to obedience. So now we are left with two pugs, Lola and Cookie and Spud, our rescue boy. He came from Bullmastiff rescue when he was six months old, although we knew from the start he wasn't pure BM. I had his DNA tested for OH's birthday earlier this year and it turns out Spud is quarter BM, quarter Rottie and an eighth each of American Bulldog, Dogue de Bordeaux, Neopolitan Mastiff and Presa Canario. The last probably accounts for his occasional aggression with other dogs, his total inability to back down if threatened and his extremely high prey drive. We have four cats also and it's like Fort Knox here as it soon became clear that only two of them (for some reason) are safe with Spud. The other two he would kill in a heartbeat if he got near them. So all doors and windows have to be kept shut here and Spud has to be walked with a strong muzzle on and never let off the lead as he has attacked a dog in the past. Despite all the hassle, he's the most adored member of the family, a complete softy with all of us and totally trustworthy with the pugs.
Here's a photo of him with them - you can just make out little black Cookie pug behind Lola. She has since lost her left eye due to a corneal ulcer
