Good morning all G'day Pat How's the knitting coming along?
Lots to do in the garden this weekend if we're going to get down to Hosta's at the beginning of June!
Tomatoes to pot on, tree to plant, lawns to mow at least a couple of times, beds to enlarge and edges to do, sweet corn to plant out, beans to sow ............ shall I risk planting the squashes out too? Oh yes, and broccoli to pull up and more annuals to sow ....... and I'm sure that's only half of it ...... we're a bit behind 'cos of all the other stuff that's been going on.
We spent a while yesterday evening watching the blue tits hoovering up the aphids from Rosa Bonica below their nest box and taking them in to feed the family - can't see an aphid there this morning
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all, sundry and insomniacs. I don't know what kind of weather you'll be having today but for the first time ever in this house I was wakened by the rain. The place has had a damned good thrashing so if we get any heat (unlikely) it'll be like a sauna. I'm off out later to attack yet another patch of willow herb...what is it with that stuff? It seems to go from nothing to a foot high overnight. At least it's easy to pull.
We have a gloomy, damp day forecast .......for the whole day today.
The only exciting thing today is that we have the Flying Scotsman passing through our station at some point between 3 and 5:30. The exact details are not being announced due to safety precautions.....some will do mad things in order to get a photo! Sadly I don't think I'll bother to even attempt to see it , especially in the rain!
No sun here yet, and the forecast isn't very promising. I think I feel h****w**k coming on... they're promising sun for tomorrow, so if I get cleaned up today I can go out with a clear conscience.
Pat, that idea for not getting a hole in your knitting looks a good'un. It would work with mittens too, to avoid the hole between fingers and thumb which I remember from my childhood (my granny used to knit us mittens). But will I remember by the time I next knit something appropriate??
Wonky, either you have a phenomenal memory, or you write things down as you read back... I'm in awe! Re OH's music at night: have you tried earplugs? Might be worth a go.
Bother. I don't have Wonky's memory and have no recollection of what the rest of you wrote on previous pages... sorry! Ah well. SYL!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
It was lovely reading about Bushman's outing to see The Flying Scotsman, and someone else (sorry I've forgotten ) who's relation drove it. Fantastic. There was a good item about it on Landward here last night.
Ppauper - I loathe willow herb with a vengeance.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you're up to. Weather's rubbish here so I have no excuse to get on with steam cleaning and hoovering dust ...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Pants weather here too ....But have lots of potting on to do in the greenhouse, so it won't bother me too much. Forecast lousy for tomorrow too .....but will happily exchange a rainy weekend for a dry day on Tuesday (my Chelsea day ?????).
Wonky - aquilegia gall mite stops the flowerbuds opening, and if you look inside the affected ones you see tiny, but bright orange, little grubs causing havoc. I consulted the RHS about it last year - its a new pest, started in Kent and rapidly spreading in the South East. Apparently if you can stop the grubs maturing (they drop down and live in the soil once they have finished ruining my flowers), then you can break the cycle .....which is what I will try. Cries
Good morning everyone. First time I've posted in this thread so hello , It is raining here and miserable, but nothing can bring me down today as it is my wedding anniversary . Five years of sheer he.. he... he... heaven!!

Hi Dove. It sounds as though you've got it all planned. Have a good day and anyone else coming along .
