Hosta - your plan for moving the rock sounds dangerous but workable.  Get some muscle to help you and keep all sticky-out bits of your body well clear.  I like ropes and would use them to hold it where it needs to stay and apply force where necessary.

FGS do not try it on your own, hostafan.  I have visions of you trapped underneath with no one around to find you. I am not even allowed up the big ladders when hubby is not here to hold them. It sounds like a three man job to me.

Name and shame, punkdoc. Otherwise, have a lovely trip to North Yorks. Pack your thermal undies, it's nippy out there.

Hosta - we have one of those concrete BBQ things with stand, fire space and chimney all built in.   Told OH we were going to move it by rolling it along on 4" round posts and he scoffed.   So did the 2 chaps we got to help liftone end up to insert the first couple of rollers.

It worked a treat and the BBQ has been in its new home for years - in a corner of the terrace and backed up against the retaining bottle wall they also all scoffed about but which has been there nearly 20 years now............ and much admired.

Cool and grey out there.  Have to shopping with Possum and general admin but definitely gardening tomorrow.  Thumb is hugely improved now I've removed the shard.

    Have a good one everyone.

    Morning all.

Rather overcast and chilly this morningimage

Hosta, get someone to move that rock for you. You've only just had your knee done. And as Beaus said, you might enjoy the view image

Pdoc, sorry to hear you had such an unpleasant PM. Big hugs.

I sent you a PM last week. Not sure if you got it, as my PMs are still playing up. But it was asking you stay and thanking you for kindness in the past. xx

Have a lovely break with your OH and happy anniversay.

Have a good day everyone, TTFN x

Right chaps. I want to the stone moved roughly where the foxglove is , between the variegated shrub and the marsh marigold.

If you click on the photo of the rock then use the little magnifier, you can see a little asplenium fern on the bottom left. ( hopefully)

    That's a big rock.

    Three alternatives

    1. Lever up one side and tip it over, twice.  Dangerous and difficult.  Free, provided you have the gear.
    2. Lever it up onto rollers and roll it thus.  Less dangerous but possibly more difficult.  Also free.
    3. Get your mates in with their JCB.  Easy, safe but possibly expensive in money or embarrassment. JCB will chew up the ground, especially if it's wet.

    You pays yer money...
