Hi folks - had a lovely if a little sad visit to Ma with Wonky - she's very frail and sleeping most of the time now, but she knew Wonky was there and said hello and smiled
Then Wonky and I went to the restaurant beside the harbour and had fish and chips before going on to Woottens at Wenhaston and having plants leap unaided into our trolley
By the way - I must say Wonky is a very good driver - my foot didn't press down on the floor once - I was very impressed
Just been watching Victoria Wood and trying to take in the news about Prince
It's been an odd day .........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
It's now after 10 am and HRH hasn't woken for her morning twinkle. Dove, I think she is mirroring what your Mum is doing. She is visibly slowing down now and I think she might not last through this winter. At least she doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. Dear old poodle, I'll miss her sorely if she goes. She is my constant companion.
My weekend to-do list is getting longer and longer ...and (apart from mane taming) it all seems to involve the garden. Its that time of year when I start to get just a teeny bit obsessed.
First buds opening on one of my ceonothus and the wisteria against the house wall. And some of my pot tulips have started too (bit disappointed that it looks like they will have a staggered flowering, which was really not quite what I had in mind).
Don't know about Prince but I shall miss Victoria Wood and Ronnie Corbett, amongst others. It's true that lots of famous people have died this year. More or Less, the stats programme on R4, investigated last week: more than twice as many in the first three months of this year than last, and that was also well above average. They put it down to being 50 - 60 years after the first large expansion in TV ownership and consequent rise to fame of lots of twenty-year-old performers. Doesn't explain VW at 62(?) though.
Overcast here in Flanders but I must get out there and do stuff. OH hasn't been able to look after her garden this year and I have four months' work to do in two weeks!
Morning all. I doubt I'll be in the garden today as the weather report is for rain pretty much all day. Got most of my new border dug yesterday so at least that's something.
Shocked also that so many people are leaving us this year. I used to have this (admittedly not very funny) joke with my husband that whenever he went away on a business trip, a celebrity I loved died - I thought he must be the Grim Reaper. I was particularly angry about him taking Rik Mayall
But, this year I cant even blame the H. Someone else must have taken over the reins, and frankly they can just stop it now.ENOUGH.
Cold and frosty but cloud gathering. Forecasting snow for the London Marathon, good luck to anyone attempting it The only running i'm capable of is via my nose
