Had a good day pottering around the jungle pulling and pushing stuff around the big push will start on Monday when my helper Steve is coming we recon a week but I think there may have to be a few pub breaks if the weather forecast is correct
My plug plants arrived this morning from South Eastern Horticultural I think they look great nice and damp and overnight
I purchased 6 each of Petunia million bell's (Blue), Trailing Verbena (Red) and Bidens (Yellow) all to plant up for a large hanging basket to go on the balcony.
Do they look ok would like your professional opinions please I got them just to see and to get some feed back if I get a good response I might buy some perennial plugs and grow them on ready to plant out in the autumn.
Just fate I suppose, but at a certain time today I was driving though town, when a pram with a baby in it, rolled at speed into the road straight in front of me......no harm done as I managed to stop okay.....the woman (in floods of tears) was so grateful.
Mitigating circumstances: she had two toddlers with her which were needing her attention, the road was on a steep/ish hill and a gust of wind blew the pram into the road.
Something slightly ironic about this, this morning I received a fixed penalty fine in the post charging me with driving at 35 mph in a 30 mph area.......a hard pill to swallow when I've held a clean driving licence since I was 17.
Verdun I potted them up this afternoon and watered in the conservatory I will remove flowers and buds as recommended thanks.
Not sure perennials yet but as I will have lots of space to fill eventually probably just about anything
Once the ground is cleared I will have more idea of the space and will start designing I have a few ideas the first things will be to get the potting / tool shed, green houses etc. put up.
Cripes David, that must have been scary for you too Well done for stopping and commiserations re the speeding ticket!
I have been out today too... Ma and Pa Panda came round to admire the fixed fence and we set too the garden doing some tidying up. Pa tackled a rather pesky bramble and I tried to avoid the neighbour at the bottom of the garden...
Oh David how scary!! What a good job you were so alert.
GUESS WHO HASN'T CHUNDERED FOR HOURS?? I'm celebrating with steak. It might not be the wisest meal for a delicate near diva like body but it's what the heart wants!
How are we enjoying the longer evenings? It's so nice having the door open to look into the garden and hear the birds and pond trickling. My daffodils are finally putting on a show and my tulips look like they'll be bursting soon too!
David. You may be able to keep your licence clean. If you ring them up you may be able to go on a speed awareness course. You have to pay for it but it is in place of the fine and points.
And well done for stopping in time earlier.
They've offered me this, Pauline, but apart from the £100 fixed penalty charge, it will cost another £80 for the 2 hr course....so in view of the fact I don't make a habit of this, I've decided to take the 3 points. I know there's no excuses, but oh dear...just a steady walking pace over 30 mph.
You see what a good boy I am, notifying my insurance company of the incident, they tell me my insurance increase will be only £25 per year.......compare this with my 20 yo granddaughter's £130 pm with a gizmo fitted in her car too.
I have to say that in the area of the 'pram' incident the speed limit is 20 mph......if they annoy anyone who may consider them to be too slow, I reckon this particular one may have saved this baby's life.
I can still remember my mum fuming for being done for 33mph in a 30 limit when I was in my teens so many moons ago.
We are in the Vendée at the mo and, as we set off last Saturday, I had a stern lecture from OH about not getting anymore speeding fines. We got one each at the same spot in the Charente last summer so I have been very careful but he uses cruise control and it doesn't always react fast enough. We'll see. Anyway here they are kind enough to deduct 10% from you speed reading in case your own speedometer is faulty and then they fine you on the remaining difference above limit. No points as we have Belgian plates.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hosta; good lord that's amazing! Well done you.

David - well braked!

Well done on the runaway pram DK.
