Terrible night, he was really ill, I had to call sos nurses at 3am, poor girls, only them alone on all the night, they couldn't get here till 6.30. Not their fault they were so upset. Now...that leads me on to the next bit.
I watched Ross Kemp on binge drinking, I know I shouldn't have, but I did, some poor boy, paraletic on his third bottle of white cider, abusive, so along comes the police car, better call an ambulance in case he's hurt, need back up police car, better call some support worker, there must have been 12 people called to that all because the poor darling needs to drink, he can now go into a centre where he can have constant care, all I want is one bloody nurse to give me a hand in the night.
This country needs a good shake up, I am writing to prime minister.
Rant over, apologies to anyone I may have offended.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
The priorities seem all wrong, but I suppose it's because the drunken boy is young.
When I started nursing the hospital was run by matron and the doctors and nurses with some secretarial staff. There was a hospital kitchen to supply meals and the cleaners were employed by the hospital. But the nurses did the cleaning immediately around the patients. It all seemed to go smoothly, no waiting lists, infections were rare. Now the hospitals are run by management staff, cleaners come from outside companies, food from kitchens far away and nurses aren't allowed to clean. It doesn't work so well any more.
I really hope someone can find you some help soon, Lyn.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I've always suspected that hospital management teams were dreamed up by a team of misogynist hospital consultant advisory group who had suffered at the hands of efficient matrons when still wet behind the ears and doing their early training.
Sorry you've had a bad night Lyn and hope you find a solution and the help you need. Completely agree about not wasting scarce resources on undeserving people with self inflicted problems. Let them take responsibility for themselves and their actions.
Did anyone see the brain part of the Staying Younger programme? Interesting stuff. Never seen a purple sweet potato in our part of Belgium. Will have to switch from grapefruit to purple fruit juice! Pleased all our dancing is good for us though and I'll be joining OH on dog walks - when it's sunny and after I've finished the decorating.

SM. done, later than usual, therefore miserable, with aisles blocked with trolleys and people.
Sorry to hear your news Chicky, it is time this was sorted.
Lyn, rant away, I agree society is breaking, if not actually broken.

I thought I'd read that you'd cancelled some paid for care because other funded care had been arranged? What's going on???
