Fairy, they will take the shortest route so I hope your plants will be safe from big boots. Last year I put canes and wire netting round a precious hellebore and threatened the men within an inch of their lives if it got damaged.
Oh I know they will Joyce - I've had building work done in every house I've been in, and it doesn't faze me, but it's a few years since the last lot and I've got used to normality! The grass was only sown last summer so they'll be warned not to keep crossing it - or else....
Once the side fence is down it will be better ...she said hopefully
Warm and hazy sounds good archie. Chilly here with the wind.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Evening all, not a bad day at work. Drove to Mistley in Essex for a look about. Beautiful area apparently where the witchfinder general lived, so I didn't hang about just in case! found a little stall selling plants so screached to a halt and came away with 2 yellow hollyhocks and 3 mystery aqualigias 50 p each! just been out in the garden with the cats, something up with Flatters again so keeping an eye on him as he's still active and eating and grooming, costs me a fortune that stray! planted acquired plants and pricked out phlox seedlings, well the first batch, ran out of light and got rained off
We went to the Norfolk broads to explore a bit. Had a sandwich and a beer in a village pub by the water then later in the afternoon had a cream tea in a pretty tea house by a river in another village.
Found just the plant container I wanted for the patio in a GH. Had already bought two but couldn't find a third the right sort - square grey metal look. They will be in shade. Bought a Brunnera "Jack Frost", a pretty blue and white Aquilegia and a Dryopteris fern. Bought a Hosta and some Heucheras the other day.
Wonder how Hosta is doing.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Like the plant selection BL. Brunnera really lightens dark areas. . . I have a lot of both. Mixed colour heucheras do very well in a pot for me with vine weevil trearment twice a year.

Glad your extension has started at last Fairy, hope they don't do too much damage in the garden......or indoors!
