If we vote out, it is unlikely you will be British for long. The Scots want to stay, and will use an exit to vote for Independence again.

Don't worry about the young, polls show they are heavily in favour of remaining in the EU.

I am not sure that we should be telling our young what they need.

I think that they might make a better "go" of things, than we have.

desperate people where you live Dove....put an ad in your local shop window and show humanity to the many shivering in the cold ....offer them a bed and a meal. Seriously.  Why not?  this is "humanity" . Do it today and I for one will take your views more seriously

I'm not facing reality??????? Really??????????  I think you forget what my job was - and now I'm retired I still do stuff unofficially and voluntarily  ........ I won't be here for a while tomorrow because I'm answering a request for a visit elsewhere.

But only if I tell you all about what I do will you take my views seriously??? Really???

That's enough for me on this thread.

Tetley, my understanding is , and I might be wrong, John Longworth was dismissed because his "personal" opinions were at odds with other members of the BCC.

    Still on the fence here.

in or out, our borders are still our own problem.

The British coastline is over 19,000 miles long. Has anyone written to their MP to offer to pay more tax to increase the numbers of staff at the Borders Agency?

I had a friend who kept a boat in Gosport. He regularly crossed the channel  over a period of almost 20 years and never once was his boat stopped and searched.

    Still on the fence

Saturday, always a big day for family here only they all have colds, two of my grandchildren arrived and amid a flurry of sandwich making we sttled down to talking. They are both University educated, both in good jobs their own flats and cars, right girls how do I vote, in or out? Quizical looks from both then in unison IN, why, I then got a lecture on why causing gentle argument on my part until Sarah capped it. Granddad, this country took in hundreds of thousands of refugees after your war? (My war) Poles Check people from the then Empire, Indian, African plus lots of the displaced people wandering Europe back then. (May just as well said the olden days) Then Hungarians not counting nurses from all nations Doctors, true the doctor who cured my cancer Mr Agarwal is from the Middle East, their logic floored me and I gave up. This is their world, they have to live in it, borders mean nothing to them and the final statement was, lots of the people coming from war zones are the educated with prospects of jobs, Raechel said the firm she works for cannot get enough experienced people? I gave up. What do we know? My vote will now be yes for the young of this Country, retired as I am let the youngsters rule, make their own world as they see it.

    The end, Frank.

    Frank,

There's a reason why some industries rely so heavily on " migrant workers" They're the only people who apply for the jobs.

The "elephant in the room " is that there are lots of British who think watching Jeremy Kyle and breeding is a job.

How many British would get up at 4am to harvest fruit and veg? or wipe the bottoms of geriatrics all night long? They simply don't apply for the jobs.

My daughter worked for a while in a care home owned by the mother of a friend. She was the only British person there, Nobody applied.

It's not just those kind of jobs. Here in N. Devon, there's high unemployment, Waitrose regularly advertise jobs and have not one single applicant.

In or out, we need people to fill these positions.

    Devon.
