When I left B'ham they had started demolition Broad Street and The canals in Gas street basin , if you wanted to see water you had to brake the crust first
My car is a girl, well she has to be with a name like Megane. She's red, best car I've ever had. I'm still furious with OH when he forget to shut the back door and reversed out of the garage some time ago. The only dents on her are his doing. She gives me freedom.
We are watching rugby, England/France in French. French SIL is not a happy bunny at the moment, unless something happened while I was typing this. Daughter is asleep on the sofa.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lily - I'm not ashamed to say that I had a lump in my throat reading that simple line on that plaque. I could have sat by the loch for ages just 'in the moment' but it's a long drive there and back so I couldn't hang about too long really!
There's been some intensive sapling planting along the edges of the river right down the glen too. Think it's the new flood defense theory of tree roots helping to bind the banks and slow the rivers down. Very impressive job. It's a few miles south of Braemar, not far from the area where the road was washed away during the winter floods.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, I'm with Stan! How could you not love that place! Its breathtaking! I haven't done hill walking but I do an good stomp when I'm in the wilderness but like Runny and SGL I can imagine I'm there!
Im indeed very lucky SGL All I need now is some time off work so I can enjoy the car! No fun just driving to work and back, although take it from me, better than the bus!
BusyL, yes with a name like that your car would have to be a lady I bet OH wasn't very popular when he made that booboo! I'm surprised he's not living in the garage!
Fairy, how could you not feel emotional in such a beautiful place? It obviously had a special importance to Stan and its lovely that his family have it to remember him, I doubt he will ever leave there. Good to hear they are attempting flood defence methods that are in keeping with the surroundings, I'm sure Stan will keep an eye on the saplings
I often get teary at the top of hills Wonks. Daft old mare that I am...
Sometimes the enormity of what you see is simply overwhelming. Big sky, big hills, big views. It's impossible to capture properly in photos, but I hope it comes across reasonably well.
