Flumpy, I used not to be able to touch slugs, until I had a few years as a "dinner nanny" (ie school meals supervisor) at a primary school. Then I found it was a good idea if I could put on a cheery smile, approach the creature confidently, pick it up & show the children how interesting it was... worked a treat, and I have no problems any more. But if you can start small with your spiders it might work best.
Re last night's contributions on here: I too read them, thought "Whaaat???" and went to bed.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I have nearly declared it Spring here I just went out for a wander ( garden not that big ) but I now have dirty nails and a couple of buckets of stuff to cut up for the compost bins. Tomorrow I need to pot on baby FIDGETs aka as Brugmansia
Washing has actually dried outside
Lots of insects here Runny, especially on the crocus and hellebores. The birds are complaining when I go in the old GH so guess they are nest building in the conifers nearby. No butterflies.
Birds seem very hungry, they appear as soon as I open the blinds. I think Sparrow hawk must have young as it is coming regularly I know it has to eat but Have noticed that the blackbirds are tolerating the magpies as it seems they scare the s.hawk away.
Fidget I hope you have your new appliances
Happy weekend to you Runny and everyone.

Happy Birthday, Lesley.
I must have missed our old member coming back. I blame too many pina coladas.
I'm off shopping now. Microwaveable meals and a washing machine.
Have a good day folks.
I tried to calm things by being light hearted about the whole thing. I'm not sure it worked, though.
Thank you flumpy and fidget

I don't mind spiders.... or moths.... it's wasps I don't like! They can hurt you
Chicky, glad you had a lovely day with Chicklet, hope Mr Chicky gets better soon, and that they find the problem
Happy nearly birthday, Lesley.
Glad you had a good day, Chicky, you deserved it.
I love Nottingham, was there for 6 years as a junior doctor. I certainly knew all the pubs.
Just in for lunch, having had a good couple of hours in the garden. Hope to go back out before the rugby.
