Scroggins , do so agree , nice to see nicely turned soil in the winter and yes nice & soft at moment

Been up to plot today , o/h trimmed a clematis that had covered a water cube and I carried renewing path with shreded wood from the pile in car park , harvested some more leeks , turnips & moli

Hope everybody is keeping well , doesn't it get dark early image

  • Ground does look nice when done,GWRS is it a big pile of bark chippings in the car park - does it get re topped up in the same place?

I went and got a free shelf rack which I will use in the garrage to store my paint on

Then went and got some wood well broke up more long pallets 6 of them and got 25 planks from that also took apart a pallet square frame thing and will use one bit for a raised bed as sawed off bit to make little legs and it is just right for a raised bed - not sure where yet

Fog here was in field next to allotment,   feet got wet - still wanting new muck boots as holes in these ones so socks really wet - but website not got my size in ones I want - for a good few weeks now

Wondered where one allotmenteer got their fruit trees from a few weeks ago - on ebay he said - oh did not know they did it

I want to get a step over fruit tree for somewhere on my plot

Gardengirl , shredding pile varies during the year , at moment it is nice and wooden , ideal for paths , where as earlier in the year it is mainly leaves and green conifer bits image

  • Thanks GWRS we still have bits of conifer, leaves holly - which is horrible

will need bark chipping but not yet so hope by then it will be more wooen bits

  • Garden Girl, your shed looks amazing, well done, you must be very handy!

Not been to much at the plot apart from to buy a few eggs  so catching up on indoor jobs and housework.

Are you all ready for Christmas? I am entertaining Christmas day and Boxing day so saving my parsnips etc for then.

Must email the tree surgeons for some more bark chippings, my paths look a bit threadbare!

  • Thanks Ginagibbs kinda handy

I have trained an apple tree in garden to go to plot some time when area is ready, brances go across either side

As bit wet still today, fed birds they are enjoying the food

going to be getting a new strimmer bit sent to me for free sometime which is goodie

Haven't had time to go to the plot, been busy at home and went away last weekend.

Not out of mind though, I've bought some stakes to make bean supports and weed membrane for the compost area, to make a flagged area in front. Also bought new clips for the GH, hoping to put it up before spring.

You guys sound like you've been busy.

  • Hi all, weather was so lovely here yesterday, I just HAD to go to the plot! Plus I had about 5 bags of horse muck to drop off. Dug up some celeriac and dug over the beds in some areas, bit too wet at the moment though.image

had the site to myself, don't see many folk there this time of year, most don't come until Easter.

  • Ginagibbs that is brilliant being the only one on site - there are lots that don't come to the site at this time of year but still a few on my site - the allotment shop is opening for last day of year on Saturday so will have mince pies and mulled wine - I need a few canes

Was a nice sunny day yesterday so I have been repairing my bird house as needs a new roof and had to re do the triangle bits for the roof slates to fit on bit tricky with saw, have been painting it all with green maple leaf still painting and attching roof slats today

Finished planting daffs in garden and putting all my paint pots on the new shelf fits just right

You got a good bit done there more muck I need to dig and add muck to plot, think I am getting no where with celeriac as still really small and should be big by now

I still have potatoes in ground and parsnips, my psb is growing well
