Spent all morning trying to remove the last of 4 screws holding the blades on my shredder as they needed sharpening.  Finally resorted to the use of a blowtorch to heat it up and an impact driver to remove!

As soon as I actually started shredding I noticed, 3 feet away, wasps going in and out of the pile of dry stuff I keep to feed in with the green stuff (helps keep it from clogging) so had to proceed with great caution so as not to disturb them!  I'll leave that pile alone now until the winter when they will be gone.

Tip:  Unless you have a very large garden, do not plant a kiwi fruit vine which you have grown from the seeds of a supermarket fruit!  They grow like wildfire once established and no sign of even a single flower let alone fruit after about 10 years.  I removed one a couple of years ago, dug down 3 feet to get as much root out as I could but it has reappeared this year. image  3 more to go..

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

None apart from some slug catching I am going away early Saturday morning so I felt the need to at least organise my belongings and tidy up a bit.

    My house is a mess

Hello all , back of hols , so dead heading , tidy g/h , thinking about cutting front lawns but it is not to bad image

  • We had good weather the bank holiday, 3 days of gardening.   Went to a nursery/garden a few miles away, specialising in grasses, that sort of things, bought a few, would have been rude not to, didnt do the garden tour, no camera, will have to go back.  Been getting up at 5, leaving with other half for work at 6, dropping him at work for 7.30, dogs run, then to my Daughters to babysit, just did a very quick essential water this end before leaving at 6.   Did her garden, cut grass, got rid of weeds, brambles.  Back here at 6, dinner, watering, practically bed time then!  Did some at the weekend.  Mainly just tidying and deadheading.

  • been down this morning weeded tied up cabbage leaves dug more beet 4 big jars  think I will have enough for about 4 more give a couple to ellens  sons then rest ours I got a few big jars of onions   more than I was expecting  ( then back home for the grand /children getting up (14 )11 )    making our sweet chilli dip today   ) not giving any away ???so I am greedy)  it is to good to give away    found a big frog in garden this morning that looks bad for slugs   go for it frogggy  image

  • Verdun, timer, love!!! (or dont eat sausage rolls)  If you didnt make them from scratch (only guessing, cos you mentioned shop) that aint cooking.  I am in the Garden club, visited a Wyevale near my daughter after babysitting, was looking for grasses, and the like, refused to pay £28. for a Rose, £34.99 for a hydranga, bought nothing, went to local nursery!
