Just got in from a fairly long session in the garden. I'm regenerating an area that contained 4 large conifers until last Tuesday. Still tidying up. It's had a load of soil improver incorporated and I've moved 2 trees into the gap. Now in the process of filling in the gaps.
I have planted out three dogwoods that I'm hoping will not only provide some winter colour, but also eventually provide some screening from next door so I don't have palpitations every time I go out and see the state of their flowerbeds.
Spot the bindweed on a stick.....
Otherwise all I've done is moved a ceanothus, popped a sin bin osteospermum in front of the middle dogwood, dug out some of the weeds coming through from next door and chucked some chicken manure pellets down.
Not been in garden that much this week, managed to mow lawn this evening with rotary mower to long for cylinder mower, I probably mow it again this weekend. Other than watering pots and a little bit of dead heading that all I've done this week.
I'm now doing the rest of the paths round the side, hence the gravel, as the extension to the house is all finished. Today I was putting up a new bit of fence and moving/amending the gate I had done previously for the side of the existing house. It's just to the right of the bag of gravel
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Spent a few hours out today, tidying up after a few bouts of rain in the past week. Just came back in as my neighbours are bbqing and I didn't want to be in the way.
Sadly could only cross one thing off my list: 'rescue burnet' (bindweed issue) but the not on list stuff was immensely satisfying too.
'Managed' a wildlifey area by chopping down a lot of the red clover as there is a limit to how much I need for next year, left it quite long still as a frog lives in the sweaty undergrowth. Chopped down some linaria for the same reasons and some poppyheads (ditto).
Chopped down some other things that were starting to grate on the nerves and half filled the brown bin to boot.?
My neighbours have two acres and today is the day!!!! He on strimmer and she on ride on. Will it never end? Thankfully they don't do it very often. I wish they would shut up. Even Bran who is deaf and spends all day wandering round the garden won't stay out! She's in bed in the kitchen.
I have done nothing but plan. Yesterday I moved my plants from the nursery to the bank where they are to be planted so now I get to look at them and see how they fit. The blue thing is giving me a right headache. It disappears against everthing. Might put it in front of the lighter green crocosmia for contrast. I love this bit.
Cut back a hebe, (full of brambles from next door!!) because there is a Eupatorium I planted last year coming up underneath. Deadheaded everything, - that needed deadheading. Went round Sarah Ravens garden, why are there no slugs or cabbage whites, everything is imaculate, and Kiplings Home, Batemans, because its quite near there.
I have got as far as making gooseberry jam with my stash of frozen gooseberries. It tasts very good. I am still fighting off a cold and feel washed out so no proper gardening.

I made sure you got the rain Pp as I had construction to do...
Grass cut and deadheading done, some sweet peas picked - all quite pleasant - but I now have two of these to spread...
and he didn't manoeuvre that one very well..it's on top of two shrubs...

Just been out and harvested a kilo of large juicy blueberries.
Ealier picked potatoes, romanesco, baby carrots, broad, french and runner beans to go with roast beef for dinner.
All the effort earlier in year is beginning to show the benefits!
