I managed half an hours deadheading after work. I have finally, finally spotted what looks like flower buds on my sweet peas.....I could do a little dance of joy! My Hosta Sum and Substance came up really early this year, and I am wondering if it has exhausted itself already as I've had to cut down quiet a lot of leaves that were looking very sorry for themselves.
I potted on the penstemon cuttings I took in April. I've no idea what I'm going to do with 171 plants though. I managed to throw 1 away which was very weedy, but all the others were too good to dump,
Moved about ten of these from "up the hill" to the garage and then transferred them onto the trailer. Did some deadheading. Sprayed weedkiller because the BBC said it wouldn't rain today. I don't really need to write the next bit do I?
I'm hoping against hope that three hours is enough to at least knock them unconscious.

All I am using it for this time is as soil improver. My very sandy soil really needs as much as I can get.

Good morning

I garden with an old dinner fork to tease roots around pot bound plants and my late mother's carving knife for sawing through plant clumps.
We moved from Essex clay to Cheshire sand. It is so much easier here.
