  • I've been weeding my rockery - trickier than it sounds as everything is so tiny and many 'proper' plants could just as easily be weeds - lots of umming and ahhing. image

Been busy in the veg garden. Dug up 2 trugfuls of bindweed, a load was in the sweet pea and cut flowers bit. Where did it come from? Wasn't there last year. All ready for sowing and planting. So far only has broad beans and mange tout peas in it.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    BINDWEEDING!!!!!

its creeping under the surface of my mulched border

So its easy to pull up in long lengths

The fiddly bits will get painted in glyphosate.

I'll play the long game with em.

Been encouraging old ferns to throw out fresh growth, so the last of the tatty old fronds have been removed this morning. Light floods in.

Umming and arrrring whether to cut out the ivy from the apple tree- maybe leave that till autumn.
  • Been mulching weeding and beheading primroses trying to keep them going as long as they will in the front troughs then going to make a big area around the trees on the bank of the stream(dykeimage)  prepped the area all ready for them . Off to the GC now to buy plants to finish off the baskets as t+m let me down image  .the sun is still shining so maybe able to do more when we return .

Hello all , busy day in garden and still back lawn to do , just having cuppa

Potted up couple of plants got from g/c less than half price , they where only slightly damaged , bargain

Potted up another potatoe sack for greenhouse Colleens , never grown theses before ?

Bought a fire dustbin from Aldi £14-99 , they where £32-00 at B&Q , got loads of woody material from trimming trees on beck bank so decided to burn it , can always take dustbin up to allotment when finished

Have a good day everybody image

I thought you went brown, because you didn't wash.

How can you lie there and think of England

  • Been shopping.... bought an evergreen honeysuckle and a climbing rose (Little Rambler) for the new planter which my husband will make this weekend (!), and a euphorbia and another rose (Charles de Mills)  for my new border near the house. Meant to pick up a different one and got distracted - hopefully it will do ok!

Good prices though - big 4L shrubs and the roses are big and vigorous already - £29 for the four.

Did little in the garden, although I did put another coat of paint on the new water feature...
