  • Started planting for the spring - three different types of anemone, crocus and some of those mini pink alliums (some long name beginning with o but can't remember...?).

Small dent made in the bulb stockpile!

Cleared some of the front garden yesterday and the soil was looking somewhat like the fine tilth on gardening programmes - well the top few inches anyway.

Two varieties of poo noted this morning - assume one fox and one cat. I will be pruning the holly tomorrowimage. Enjoy you beastly critters!

Today as the weather was fine here in the west of Scotland I started clearing out some of the past their best plants in my Bee garden only to discover that the brambles coming from next doors garden are beginning to grow into mine. image Cant tell you how angry this makes me as she does nothing with her garden and I work really hard in mine. So I dug them out and threw them back into the mess she calls a garden!

Linda:  are you anywhere near the Ayrshire coast?

    It's so frustrating Linda.

I spend half my time digging out next door's groundcover  plant, which are my pernicious weeds

B3 Cant understand why people can live with a garden like a tip...what a waste. I have had to stand in a    row of old slabs along my fence to keep her weeds out . Oh if only I could get my hands on a flame thrower.

You need to accept that you won't be able to eradicate them

I would just cut the brambles as close to the fence as you can and try to keep on top of it.

I don't know anything about weedkillers but maybe someone could advise you on how to do some damage to the brambles from your side of the fence.

  • I got some of the SBK brushwood killer to kill off a tree stump, says it does brambles on the bottle so you could look at that?  Sure there are loads of others too.
