That's a beautiful pic - and a stunning location Chrissy. You'd never need to go anywhere else
Do you have a paddle now and again?
Thank you David - I always feel very honoured if you compliment any of my pix.
It doesn't really look it, but it was quite windy up there, although it's not particularly high - about 2,300 feet. The snow and ice make lovely patterns - a bit like sand. There was a bit of snowy spindrift at various points but I wasn't quick enough to take pix.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Gorgeous walk today up Tullich Hill in Glen Douglas. Bit further north than where I was last time. Not big, but very steep. It's always worth it when you get these views.....
buzzard - he refused to come nearer....
and then you reach a little, unassuming cairn....
which has this behind it........
the Rest and be Thankful hills, all the Arrochar hills, with a few of the Crianlarich hills fro good measure
Turn round and you have these...
could have stayed there all day
Looking down to Arrochar with the reflection of Beinn Narnain in Loch Long
what's not to like
Hurray!
Smashing!

Looks like a beautiful day out and you have great photos there. I haven't been in Glen Douglas since I was a lad, we started up the Luss hills and came down into Glen Douglas "discovering" a secret military base. Came as a bit of a shock as we naively thought we were alone in the wilderness . Your second panorama shot shows our route beautifully.
I've got one pic which shows the installations steephill, but it's quite dark with the direction of the sun and all the forestry.
The Luss hills looked tremendous from that side too
The Arrochar hills looked magnificent today - no matter how often I see them, or from what angle, they always look great. To be honest, the pic doesn't do them justice. They were so big and vibrant I felt I could have put my hands out and touched them. It was 360 degree joy! Weather was great - virtually no wind - and I had the hill to myself

More stupendous landscapes, Fg. Hope you don't mind, I couldn't help trying to tickle a little bit more out of the last one.....the others were perfic!
I had a chance to take a better pic of the installations - they were quite clear earlier in the walk, but as the sun got higher they were thrown into deeper shade. Faslane is just 'round the corner' from these hills....always pays to be cautious when taking lots of photos ....
King sized icicles too - that's the bank I sat the camera on for my self portrait
Ben More and Stob Binnein were looking brill - as befits their status of the biggest of the Crianlarich hills. Binnein has a very distinctive, and beautiful, sweeping whaleback fin from this angle
