  • Beautiful pictures - I feel like I have been on holiday by just looking at them - well I can dream! Glorious day today so just had to get out there and admire the view. Hope you enjoy the pictures.imageimageimageimage All taken from and around our favourite sandy beach at the north of the island - and our parish church. The rifle range is in the last picture, the fort in and tower were built in case the French invaded - luckily they didn't

GD - you had a lovely day for your walk.  Interesting to see the tower and fort.

I would enjoy a walk along that coastal path in the first pic, having spent all but two years of my life living in coastal area.

  • Thanks Joyce. Surprisingly there was no one swimming today.  There were just a few walkers and dogs on the beach, a canoeist and a fishing boat or two. The coastal path in pic 1 runs all across the north and west coasts, walkers and cyclists use it for a picturesque view of the islands and beaches.

Me too.  Thank you!  image  Never been to the Channel Islands, think Guernsey is now on the list...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • I have a lot of photos on flickr both gardening and places we have visited.  If you have time on your hands - you should be out there gardening - or you really want to be bored please have a glance at:

If you don't like posts like this I am happy to delete it.

Since 1958 I have had 4 long term cameras; a Kodak Retinette, a Yashica FR1, a Nikon D50 and just this Summer a Nikon D7200.  Alongside these I have had various odds'n ends like a 2.5*3.5" plate camera which was fun.  My sight is poor so I take a lot of photos of things I can't see well so I can look at them at home on the monitor.

Oakridge.  So far I've had a quick look at the various garden photos. . . beautiful and requiring  much  more leisurely viewing. Very informative with all the plants etc named.

Your angora goats are beautiful animals.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for the nice comments, glad you liked the pictures. Guernsey is an interesting historical place. Occupied by the Germans in WWII, they were responsible for building many fortifications and museums which are open to the public. There are also Napoleon, Roman, Neolithic and various other remains of forts and burial grounds on and around where those pictures were taken. Guernsey has just won three Britain in Bloom and Floral Britain awards, flowers and growing are very prominent on the island.

  • The photos are lovely, Guernsey always looks such a beautiful place.

We were at Teacher Training College with a very nice chap from Guernsey.  He had a Francis-Barnet motorbike.  The other piece of exciting info I have about it is that my Grandad called a pullover a Gansey.
