Hope the weather picks up for you in November Liri. Snow forecast for the hills this weekend. Don't think you'd see much from the window  tomorrow either,  if the forecast is right!

I'll give you a wave if I'm up there that month on any of them  image

That's a lovely pic Philip. Glad you're getting a nice day to enjoy the view.  image

Found this one from some years ago, from the summit of 'The Bookil' ( Buchaille Etive Mor) looking south-ish. The Glencoe road is down on the left side

You sound as fond of your cottage in Scotland, Liri as I am of ours in Norfolk. Our view isn't as spectacular as yours, but it's peaceful and I like it. These are the girls in the field behind it. They look ghostlike on a June evening in the mist.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh BL - that's such a beautiful pic of the coos in the mist  image

My spider outside the front window is clinging on valiantly to his web. Hope he doesn't get blown away tonight...

  • What pretty markings on the underneath of that spider - yes I hope he survives the wind - all that effort and energy used to make the web surely it will last through any bad weather although he is a tad exposed isn't he.

Sheps - I'm a few days behind.  Your Hoverfly pics are brilliant.  I've been photographing loads of them all summer but nothing as good as yours.  The clarify, focus is amazing.  Can I ask what kit you used?  I'm using a Canon 70D with 100mm lens but I'm not getting anything like the quality you have in those fly pics.  I'm still experimenting with my settings though but pretty much a disaster by comparison with yours.  Would love to hear how you got those great shots.  Thanks.

She sure does Joyce. She's home now though, so no chance of adventures except with our son. She's not allowed outside in Canberra. No road sense, image

  • Lovely pictures Pat and nice blue skies too.  I assume that plants have to be well watered to keep them alive as the soil looks quite dry. What are the yellow flowered shrubs behind the tree - the colour really stands out against the drier grass.
