Some lovely photos on here but I have a techy question and hope someone can help.

Possum wants a new camera which will take better photos than her mobile phone and allow her to do videos she can edit afterwards.

She's looking at a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX90 and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ57 and I don't know enough to decide whether the former is worth the extra price tag.

Any helpful comments would be much appreciated.

I love taking pictures of my flowers up close and getting their flower details.

You are so lucky, Fairy...wish I had Merlins close to home, I have to trek to the Dales to see them.

Beautiful pictures everyone and your flower shots are superb, Jacqueline...such gorgeous colours.

Posted this shot in the Daily Wildlife thread, a small frog I found on my checks before going around with the dreaded Strimmer.

Such a beautiful Butterfly, Busy-Lizzie...so many of you have such amazing wildlife close to hand, once again I'm so envious.

I missed seeing the actual 'dragon', but this is the embryonic shell he/ she/ it left behind!

Love the recent wildlife pics - magnificent captures, my earnest/ envious congrats to one & all!!

This one was more 'lively', but he rested just long enough for a snapshot from 3 metres away!

David - that's terrific though! Shame you missed the actual 'event' but great to get those pix image

Beautiful butterfly pic BL. Do we get them in Britain at all - the south maybe ?

Lovely frog Sheps. Kept having to avoid treading on loads of them recently in Glen Etive.image

The Pentlands are only about an hour's drive from me, but Glen Lyon's a tad further - over two hours. Longer in winter when you can't use the short cut across the top. I saw those Merlins within fifteen minutes of leaving the car though. You wouldn't need any hill skills to see them - good landrover access track for the first few miles... image

It's real red squirrel country too. There are loads in that glen.image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks, Fairygirl. I'd had to wait for a hefty thunderstorm to clear & I fancy the 'dragon' flew off during the confusion!! Your glen & Pentlands wildlife sound quite magical, btw.

These two characters were quite happy to pose for my camera, though I doubt their genealogy??

Back to reality for my final offering today.

What a beautiful lawn David. They don't grow like that in SW France. Mine is going brown as I type! 32° today, should be hotter tomorrow - 36° I wither in heat!
