What a lovely photo, David. How did you get so close? Good to see you back.
My camera is a Canon Ixus 285 HS. I've set it to low enough pixels to post easily on forums and emails. I had a Nikon Coolpix S3600 that OH bought me in New York last year, already it's zoom doesn't work anymore and I never liked it, so he kindly bought me a Canon (which I do like). But I'm not a proper photographer although I take loads of photos. I like something that fits in my handbag and doesn't weigh a ton. My handbag already weighs a ton!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lizzie, your photos of your lovely garden are always impressive.
You ask, 'how did I get so close'. Well, at that stage they are pretty fearless, so I was able to take liberties.....I would just add that I used flash to enhance the shot, something that is not always thought of in daylight.
My photos are always honest and without post-processing tinkering, had I been that way inclined, I may have removed the ivy leaf above the chick on the left.
Btw, why does my text appear to be smaller than everyone else's?
Great to see you are back, David...Camera Talk hasn't been the same without you and I'm really hoping you stick around, in the short time I have been on GWF you have given some excellent advice that has been greatly appreciated I'm sure.
What a super shot of the Blackbirds, David...love the inquisitive looks on their little faces.
Also, thanks for the kind words everyone, they are appreciated
Great photos everyone, loving the shots of all the lovely flowers...and that lovely Mist too, Fairy
Hi aym...I forgot to answer your question re the camera, the shot of the Dung Fly was taken with a Canon 7D and a Canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro lens
The same Camera / Lens combo was used to capture the below picture, I don't do much flower photography, so not sure what this particular flower is called.

So good to "see" you David. I wish I'd a fiver for everytime someone commented on missing you. I could afford a Leica!
Now...where is the patience shop...?
That is definitely an AWE pic David, perfectly framed with the ivy.
Joyce - I did exactly that before I saw your post...

Gorgeous David - lovely to 'see' you
It felt very strange that you weren't posting-you have been sorely missed. I've had so much help from you personally.
It's great to see a new photo from you - and such a beauty
Ppauper - I believe that shop went into liquidation...
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Would you believe me if I said I stood there with a worm in my mouth, saying, 'I's ya daddy'?
