One night an elephant came very close to our tent, which was seriously scary, but afterwards we felt that something truly amazing had happened, and were really excited.
Things like that happen fairly frequently in tented camps, but it is very rare for anyone to be harmed.
Hearing a lion roar in the middle of the night, really does send shivers down the spine.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
David K is OK, Hazel. He doesn't care for the new site. As you know, photo posting is a problem for serious photographers because of the photo size allowed. I wonder how many other people left?
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Think you're right BL. He's pretty fed up with it. It's a real shame because he's helped so many people with their photograpy - not to mention their problems on his sweet pea thread.
I thought he might have gone away for a few days but he's not been around for a while.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Can I ask a question please, BL...why would posting a photo on this site cause a problem for serious photographers, or anyone else for that matter?
I used to be a serious photographer ( freelance wildlife photography ) and if you are posting an image for web use then there should not be an issue, providing it is not above a certain file size.
My shot of the Common Seal on the previous page is a tiny 485KB, which is perfect for web use, but if someone is trying to upload a massive 102MB file, straight out of the camera, then they are going to have a few issues, maybe I have just answered my own question?
If we don't exceed the maximum file size for this site, then posting images should be a breeze
If you happen to read this, David...you have posted some superb images in the short time I have been on here and given some excellent advice, Camera Talk is a poorer place without you, so please have a re-think and maybe start posting again
Thanks Sheps but you need to remember that while some people are serious photographers and some are serious gardeners there are others who are seriously fed up with the fannying about required now to post a picture since the forum revamp.
I don't have any issues as I have an ancient phone camera (hence my pics have 2 pixels each and are c**p) but the techy know how is beyond a lot of people or, as I suspect is the case for some, "it used to be so simple and now I can't be a***d"! If you check out the "Uploading pics" thread you'll see both the level of "expertise" and the snags that people are coming up against.
I'm reasonably savvy but once I start reading this MB and that KB it turns into blah blah blah due to total lack of interest.
Another regular and valued poster packed in the forum a couple of days ago not only because of the uploading issues he was having but also the way he felt it was dealt with by the GW team.
There's been a lot of "throwing the head up" since the revamp and I just hope that David k isn't in that category as we can't afford to lose valuable contributers.

I sent him an email and he replied. We've both posted on here for some years, him longer than me.
I miss him too. His was the first post I ever read, amazing knowledge
can we tempt him back? I hated the new site but have got used to it and the improvements have happened

People with specialist knowledge are invaluable on this site. If David doesn't reappear he will be sorely missed.

Point taken, PP...I sometimes forget that others may struggle with the uploading of images
Will check out the Uploading pics thread.
Sheps...
Another quiet week in Camera Talk...and still no sign of David K's return
Anyhoo, here is a Yellow Dung Fly just after a rain shower.
Sheps...
