Have you got through to the other nurse yet Lyn? I hope your father is okay at so many people being so concerned for his gentleman veg (well this is a gardening forum).

I hope you both had a good night.

Lyn. I just had a thought about your father's gentleman veg. Would a condom catheter be of any use? Not bring well versed in gentleman veg I don't know how you keep the condom on but if he can still pee independently the doctor might consider it a safe non invasive alternative?

I would try and go down the route Lyn of the sheath and bag, I used to work for Coloplast in the distant past, and this would be a good solution. They used to have their own specialist nurses who would assess with a GP request. Take care.

This is the latest, I cant believe it, neither can the district nurse.

Dad doesn't meet the criteria for help.

He has to be in constant pain with cancer to qualify. I will never get anyone to sit with him or give me a break.

The nurse is going to come in on Thursday to help me wash him and change the bed.

District nurses shouldn't be doing that sort of work but they are just such nice people down here. She just wants to help me.

My heart goes out to you Lyn.  The powers that be want more "care in the community". . . it's time to provide it.  The carer gets worn down and suffers too.

I don't think care in the community actually exists Joyce. A complete myth unless you're at death's door as Lyn has described. There's no funds for it to be done properly and people like Lyn are just left to deal with it on their own.

It's a disgrace and will only get worse as we become an increasingly ageing population.
