Thanks Fairy, Lizzie and Snow. The hellebore is Harvington pink speckled which I've had a few years but this is only the second time I've seen the flowers. The first year I threw a frisky for the dog and took the only flower off it. The second year the dog ran across the bed and destroyed the flowers. Who'd have a dog?.
Kathy absolutely fantastic photos. How long have you been there? did you clear the woodland area and plant? I am very interested as we are trying to achieve what you have done!
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Hi Lily, we've lived here for 15 years now our house was a self build with half an acre of land, just a very small woodland area which had quite a few young trees added as part of the planning permission, I started off 12 or 13 years ago with 1000 snowdrops in the green then bought a 1000 more for the next 2 years, now its split and divide every year, a job I've been doing all weekend , theres still another area not cleared yet and I'm still battling cow parsley, hubby is now in the process of digging a few inches down for the paths and laying membrane then he has lots of chippings from hedges hes cut and shredded, the ivy I've given up on trying to get rid of the snowdrops and bulbs grow through it and it does stop a lot of weeds so what the heck lol, just don't like it climbing the trees, i do try to keep it clear round the hellebores though.
