I wonder if Marion has it? I think it's gorgeous. Would love to try one, do you know how hardy it is?

I've had mine around 2 to 3 years... It didn't flower the first couple years then when I gave up on it and moved it it took off! We haven't had a very cold winter with much snow the last few years so I wouldn't like to say?...

It's beautiful, and I've never heard of it. Looked it up, it likes moist well drained soil, not wet in winter and some winter protection, but it's frost hardy. Don't think I could grow it as my well drained places get too dry. And Dordogne winters are usually too cold or too wet.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

But mrhursty's growing it in a bucket of stones!!!! There's always the old "keep it in a pot and lift it in over Winter" trick.

Very pretty but it wouldn't survive here either. Takes me all my time to survive the winter, never mind the plants image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

What fabulous blooms you all have and fantastic to see the range of plants in all the photos.  Nothing much blooming here yet after the early Spring usuals but a lot of promising foliage.

Otherwise - having a fight with old clematis, a few which have decided to flop on me this year - all my fault from not paying enough attention.  Clem Polish Spirit planted I think 4 years ago in a pot - first year fantastic blooms.  Last year, tons of foliage, no flowers at all.  Couple of weeks ago it took me over an hour after a good few soaks to remove it from the pot and no wonder it wasn't ever coming to anything.  Pot-bound.  Roots were enormous.  Needed the wheelbarrow as I couldn't even lift it.  There was a lesson in neglect and ignorance.  I've chopped it to base and planted it in an enormous hole hoping it will send out shoots sometime later.

Beautiful 'Rebecca' which bloomed in great style for 2 years - was not pot bound.  Looked as normal until a few weeks ago then it completely wilted.  So now it's in the 'hospital' bed also cut to base but showing signs of little shoots coming up now.

'Miss Bateman' bought last year late in the season - decided to pot it to keep it over the winter.  It has come up but it is also starting to wilt.  It was re-potted in fresh compost to get it over winter but the leaves seem to have a rust type infection.  Not sure what it is.  I don't want to put it in the ground until I know what this is.  Any idea anyone?  Should I burn it or persevere?

I have a few other clematis who are doing just fine in the ground and in pots.  I just haven't paid enough attention to what was going on with these ones.

Apologies if I should have put these on a new thread instead of this one.

I would post photos of the border I've planted up today, but this new look forum has decided it doesn't want to allow me to post photos from my laptop. Nor will it allow me to post photos from photobucket. Extremely frustrating.

Well after much grief having to resize them I've finally managed it. The file size restriction is extremely inconvenient.

Just added some planting to the small border on my front block paved driveway. It now has hyrdangea, box balls, crocosmia, lupins, salvias and foxgloves. A couple of foxgloves have self seeded at the front of the border and I shall leave them be..

    Hi 1runnybeak1...

if you manage to get them settled in you really won't be disappointed with the scent it gives off and the flowers are really nice too... I've taken a couple of cuttings today and trying my luck!
