LeadF - I can't post photos at all now! I flagged it up with Daniel today and he told me to fill in the online form on the supportdetails .com site. If you take a look on the thread 'Your new-look forum' you'll see an image of what it looks like in his reply to me earlier today  image

1st one is a tree peony Gd. 2nd is a Brugmansia (I think) and the last one is a Cistus - don't know th evariety though.

Don't recognise the 3rd. If you can post it on a separate thread someone will know  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thank you Fairygirl - you have a good knowledge of plants - the last picture is exquisite but they were very tall leggy plants and would be too vulnerable in our garden which gets a lot of wind. The second picture - the trumpet style flowers was actually a tree or very tall shrub. It is so annoying when visiting gardens and there are no name tags. Invariably the garden owners are deep in conversation with friends, however it was a very worthwhile visit.

B'cup - thought it was only me who forgets the name of something I grow!   image

GD - I think the cistus  would be fine but you may just have to stake well early on. They probably get big with your climate. Perhaps start a thread and you'll get help from others here who grow them successfully. I've never grown them - totally pointless up here in our conditions!

Thanks Buttercup & Fairygirl - all good to know. Those cistus flowers are quite stunning & free flowering. I may give them a go next year - not sure if they grow from seed though. What lovely colours Yviestevie - they are certainly eyecatching.
