Brilliant sunshine and wall to wall blue sky this morning in Bristol though at 7degrees it feels cold. I will do all my indoor jobs before I venture out but am looking forward to clearing a large part of the bamboo mountain. The whole country seems to be in for a lovely bright day so lots of gardening should be on the cards for everyone. Enjoy.
My goodness hardy geraniums are great value. The back garden is speckled with blue from Rozanne and pink from G. oxonianum where I have just stuck in some offshoots and forgotten about them. Margery fish was so right when she said plant a hardy geranium when you are not sure what to plant. They seem to fit in with everything else and just seem to flower for ever. i have worked myself to a standstill but need sustenance now. The bamboo pile has been enough to let me through to the potager so i harvested a bucket of potatoes and onions and more Conference pears which I am eating now as the ones I picked earlier have ripened in the warmth of the kitchen.
Only 5degrees in the conservatory this morning so I will set up the greenhouse heater for the winter. It switches itself on at 4degrees. Wit so many tender plants in there i cannot be too careful. Beautiful sunny morning though so I will don my gardening coat after all my indoor chores are completed and get stuck in outside.
Yes ayd208, I have got out my bed socks for the first time this autumn and put the warm blanket under the bottom sheet on my bed. Signs of winter approaching. But the next few days are forecast to be dry and sunny so still good gardening weather. A bit nippy out in the garden this morning but looking good and the autumn colours are coming on my acers.
Autumn colours. . . . my deciduous azaleas and viburnums are in full autumn colour now . . . . I grow shrubs for their spring flowers/autumn colours. . . double pleasure.
The lime tree in the wood (over the fence) at the back door is a lovely mix of green and golden yellow leaves, providing a background to my orange berrried pyracantha.
Half of my pics from today. The rest after coffee break. The north facing acers are colouring nicely but the west facing ones are still very green so hopes of a long autumn. In the meantime the weigela, primulas and hypericums think spring has come again. They have joined in with the Japanese anemones and asters to make the garden a riot of colour after I have removed the tender subjects to the conservatory.

I agree re hardy geraniums Marion. They are great value, grow anywhere plants in such a variety of colours and habit.

I will take my camera out later. I have a list as long as my arm to do!

You still have lots of colour, Marion.
Is that sawdust on top of the compost in pots?
