My goodness it did get hot but my new plants are recovered from their warm journey now. Just what i need to plant up the bare spaces left by my "helpers". 3 each of Thalictrum aquilegifolium, Primula denticulata "Ruby" and Sempervivum Reinhard. I will take some offshoots from the empervivum and may split up some of the primulas. Such good value as they only cost £1.70 per plant delivered free.
Another fine day and cooler than yesterday so should be able to get more done in the garden. Rain forecast for this evening so will only do minimum watering to the plants showing wilting signs after the hot day yesterday. Thunderstorms forecast for Thursday so that looks like a housework day coming up.
Well you've all been busy bees this week, Marion did you enjoy your potatoes, my dad has been digging new potatoes for us, the taste is gorgeous mmmmm, I've not been able to get in the garden after work due to sore aching legs ( standing long hours), I will make up for it, my lawn needs cutting and my shrubs have grown heaps after all this rain, more to come tomorrow TTFN.
The potatoes I dug up were delicious Flumpy. I have only eaten half up to now. Looks like a bumper crop this year - warmth and rain has suited them. Have a lovely holiday, GWRS. I think the train situation is fixed now in Swindon. We had quite a bit of rain during the night too but dry morning forecast so should get the kitchen patio tidied. I have some green manure I would like to get sown now the soil is damp.
Drat I had just got out my camera and started to take pictures when the rain started. The non obvious picture is a lesson on not ever giving up on plants especially bulbs. my nerines grew to six inches and were then chomped back to the bulb by some creature. I left them in their pot and three have sent up new flowers and some of the other seven have good leaf growth and look promising .
