Thanks for the info Marion re digging in poached egg plant, I didn't realise it can be used as a green manure.

When is the best time to dig it in?

    Thank you

Just before it starts to flower Maureen in the spring.  It is an excellent green manure and weed suppressant!  Even bindweed will not appear in a patch of it!

What a wet, dark Sunday morning.  Still mild but wind forecast though it is still calm at the moment.  I was hoping to gather some forsythia twigs to put in a vase for early flowers but will wait to see if there is a break in the rain.  Two more days till i take down my Xmas cards.  The house always needs cheering up when they come down. It seems like the forecast is rain for most of the country which bodes ill for the people who have been flooded.  So depressing.  I do hope the electricity is back on for everyone.  First thing I did this morning when i got up was switch on the light!

Good Morning Marion, it's very grey here too but calmer, we are going grocerie shopping later then maybe stretch our legs. Think I might cut some of my branches off to brighten the house up, I always think it looks bare after Mew Year, my batteries are going so TTFN : )

Good morning Marion. Wet and dark here too. I have a cold, so not going out anyway - except to feed the horses.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Good morning Marion. Dark and wet here too and blowing a gale!

I'm really looking forward to your new thread and to getting lots of inspiration for perfume and more pollinators. I have inherited lots of raised beds and plantery type things and so all the smellies are closer to head height. The smell in my boot room is of cloves from the dianthus the previous lady had planted outside. It's one of my memories of moving in day!!

Here's to a happy and healthy New Year.

    Keep up the good work.

ps your smiley face "switches on the light" every day on here! image

Rain stopped, sun came out so I was able to get out into the garden for an hour where it was very warm and springlike with lots of snowdrops showing, primroses flowering with Iris danfordii yellow harmonising and a great deal of bergenia.  The forsythia flowers are just breaking and lots of hazel catkins.  I gave my Xmas hyacinths some company and at last potted up my Xmas Striped Amaryllis which said on the box this was the largest size bulb so should have lots of flowers.
